I am excited to be be running for the Board of Selectmen in Lexington. I am running for the one year seat that has become open with Michelle Ciccolo becoming State Representative. I am a lifelong resident of our town, and I am proud to have been able to call Lexington my home for the past 37 years. Lexington provided me with enormous benefits growing up, and I plan to spend the rest of my life here. I am running because I am passionate about ensuring that Lexington remains a great place to live and continues to become even better. I want to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard, from our senior citizens to our children, from retirees to those just starting out, and for people of all backgrounds and abilities.
I know the issues facing our community well. I have worked previously for Lexington’s town government. This past year, I spoke with thousands of people while running for State Representative. We deserve a government that reflects our community’s values and always acts in the best interests of our residents. With four generations of my family having lived or currently living in our town, including my grandparents, parents, and now our two young children, ages 8 and 5, I also have a deep understanding of the needs of every generation living in Lexington. I am committed to ensuring everyone’s needs are met at every stage of life.
I believe that we need to ensure Lexington is welcoming to all people, regardless of their background. I have spent time reaching out to diverse groups and engaging in issues ranging from disparities in discipline for minority and special education students, to protections for our LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors, to expanding resources for senior citizens, and more. I will continue to do so during this campaign and should I win, I will always seek the input and advice of all who live here.
We need a vibrant town center to make Lexington an even more enjoyable community. We must live within our budget and exercise fiscal responsibility so that we do not keep raising taxes, making Lexington unaffordable for our senior citizens and middle and lower income residents. A key component of this is to boost economic development to relieve the tax burden on us all.
I understand how to get things done at the local level. My experiences working for Lexington’s town government and as a Research and Budget Director at the Massachusetts State House prepared me well for this position. I know how to make good policies and effective budgets. My experience working with local officials while at the State House will make me well positioned to work closely with State Representative Ciccolo and State Senators Barrett and Friedman to get things done for Lexington.
I have the passion, experience, proven commitment to good governance, and knowledge needed to do this job. I promise to work with all of my strength and bring my enormous enthusiasm to this race and to continue with this passion to serve our community if I win. I hope that as the campaign moves forward I will earn your support. I look forward to continuing to interact with, and meet with, everyone in this great town. Lexington is a special place to live, and I pledge that I will work hard to make it even better!
